The Resurgence of English

History is composed by the most relevant events from any part of the world. So, I chose the period from 1200 to 1400 called “The resurgence of English” because I feel it is very important in terms of language expansion. It is during the 12th century that there is an increase in literacy.
According to my point of view, this increase is the fundamental factor for the development of English because it allows to people to become more interested in reading, writing, in other words people during this time believe in progress.
It is really important to mention that the influence of France declines when English became the language of power. This kind of difficult relationship between those countries (England and France), was originated because both of them wanted to be the most powerful nations. But when English was spoken for the first time at the parliament, it became the official language.
In spite of France had lost its power, French words made an impact in the 14th century because 10.000 words entered to English.
To conclude, every event that occurs in the world has an impact, so history is always changing and making an influence in our lives. It is really necessary to understand how a language became so powerful and popular, as in this case English, that almost everyone wants to learn it.
