Being a queen

Elizabeth I, was an admirable queen. She was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. So, the royal power she had, it came from her genes. Her family was connected with the royalty that is why her cousin, Mary, queen of Scots had a rivality with Elizabeth.

Mary Stuart was considered the right queen according to Catholics. The Catholic religion was in opposition to Elizabeth because of her protestant condition. In addition, she had to fight against the Spanish enterprise commanded by the king Phillip II, to keep her throne nad also in order to protect England. She initiated an important perios for our history called “The golden age”.

Elizabeth’s life was full of sacrifices, she never got married and she was called the “Viergin Queen” but I think she was in love with Sir Raleigh and she kept that as a secret. Thet demonstrated she was like any human being who felt love and fear. All the things I mentioned you can see in the film “Elizabeth”.

In conclusion, life as a queen is really difficult because you have to take right decisions and manage a country in a good way to save it from the enemies. So, as a queen you acquire a strong personality to face problems but that does not mean you have to loose your sensitiveness as a person you are.

The Resurgence of English

History is composed by the most relevant events from any part of the world. So, I chose the period from 1200 to 1400 called “The resurgence of English” because I feel it is very important in terms of language expansion. It is during the 12th century that there is an increase in literacy.
According to my point of view, this increase is the fundamental factor for the development of English because it allows to people to become more interested in reading, writing, in other words people during this time believe in progress.
It is really important to mention that the influence of France declines when English became the language of power. This kind of difficult relationship between those countries (England and France), was originated because both of them wanted to be the most powerful nations. But when English was spoken for the first time at the parliament, it became the official language.
In spite of France had lost its power, French words made an impact in the 14th century because 10.000 words entered to English.
To conclude, every event that occurs in the world has an impact, so history is always changing and making an influence in our lives. It is really necessary to understand how a language became so powerful and popular, as in this case English, that almost everyone wants to learn it.

Stonehenge

In this post I am going to comment the findings related with Stonehenge, based on a video from BBC.
For many years, scientists have made researches, theories for trying to find answers to what was the purpose of the Stonehenge and also why people from the past, were able to put huge rocks in a circle.
Scientists have found theories. The first one explains that where Stonehenge was located, it was chose for astronomical reasons and the second one says that Stonehenge might have been a place for healing people. Because there were found bodies buried with some signs.
Thinking on Stonehenge, I have concluded that during this period the frequent use of huge rocks might have been in order to protect themselves from some other tribes´ attacks or it might have been used as a way of communication. Another conclusion that I have made is that people who lived in Stonehenge maybe used these rocks as a way of expression, these huge rocks maybe contain a meaning beyond what we see.
The video has helped me to reflect about the hypothesis that researches have found and I really enjoyed to watch the video. So, now my believes about Stonehenge have changed because I know more real facts than before. Also, I understood that monuments mean the important part that human play in the history of the world.
